Federation Layer
The Federation Layer enables decentralized learning. It allows multiple domains to share knowledge without sharing raw data.
FederationCoordinator
The central component that manages network health. - Membership: Dynamic peer discovery. - Routing: Intelligent update routing. - Trust: Managing reputation scores.
Packet Types
We use different packet types for specific data exchanges:
1. PathPack (Knowledge Transfer)
Contains discovered causal paths and their weights. - Ensures both peers are talking about the same data structure. - Includes performance statistics and audit trails.
2. EdgeDelta (Incremental Updates)
Smaller packets for bandwidth-constrained environments. - Only transmits edges that have changed. - Includes pruning commands for spurious edges.
3. PolicyPack (Meta-Learning)
Sharing how to learn, not just what was learned. - Transmits Bandit parameters and DRG thresholds.
Privacy & Trust Security
The framework ensures safety through four mechanisms:
-
Trust Scoring Peers are rated based on the quality of their updates. Low-quality peers are ignored.
-
Privacy Guard Differential Privacy noise is injected into weights. No raw data ever leaves the local domain.
-
Packet Validation Cryptographic signatures ensure packets aren't tampered with.
-
Selective Sharing Updates are only sent to peers with sufficient Trust Score.
