Retrieval-Augmented Generation

Confidential Professional Work

I worked on the development of a retrieval-augmented generation system for enterprise applications, focused on giving language models reliable access to large and changing collections of internal information.

My work centered on the layer between the underlying data and the language model: turning raw documents and external information into relevant, controlled, and usable context. This involved retrieval, ranking, context construction, memory, model integration, validation, and the operational concerns required to make the system usable beyond a prototype.

A major part of the work was treating retrieval as more than semantic search. The system had to account for relevance, conflicting information, context limits, access boundaries, source provenance, model uncertainty, latency, and cost before information reached the model.

I worked across the machine-learning and engineering aspects of the system, including information retrieval, language-model integration, persistent data handling, evaluation, and reliability.

The resulting work was designed as reusable infrastructure rather than a single chatbot or application, allowing the same underlying capabilities to support different enterprise use cases.

Because this is proprietary professional work, the public description intentionally stops at the level of the problem, engineering scope, and my contribution. Internal architecture, retrieval strategies, implementation details, datasets, benchmarks, and deployment design are not disclosed.
